Personalized Medical Weight Management

Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight can be challenging, especially when changes in metabolism, hormones, health conditions, medications, lifestyle, and other factors are working against you.

At OTR Health & Wellness, we take an individualized, medically supervised approach to weight management. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all program, our healthcare team works with you to better understand your health, your goals, and the factors that may be affecting your progress.

Your personalized treatment plan may include nutrition and lifestyle guidance, laboratory testing and monitoring, ongoing clinical support, and prescription medication when determined to be medically appropriate by a licensed healthcare professional.

A Medical Approach to Weight Management

Successful weight management involves more than simply eating less or exercising more. Your medical history, metabolic health, medications, sleep, nutrition, activity level, hormones, and other individual factors may all influence your ability to lose weight and maintain your progress.

OTR begins with an individualized clinical evaluation so that our healthcare team can develop a treatment plan based on your needs.

Depending on the patient, medical weight-management care may include:

Individualized Clinical Evaluation

Your healthcare provider reviews relevant medical history, current health concerns, weight-management goals, laboratory findings, and other clinical factors before recommending treatment.

Nutrition & Lifestyle Guidance

Nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and sustainable lifestyle habits remain important components of long-term weight management. We help patients incorporate realistic changes that complement their medical treatment plan.

Prescription Treatment When Appropriate

For eligible patients, prescription medication may be considered as one component of a comprehensive weight-management plan.

Certain FDA-approved GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications have demonstrated clinically meaningful weight loss in appropriately selected patients.

Medication selection is individualized based on your clinical evaluation, health history, potential risks and benefits, treatment goals, availability, and other relevant factors. In certain circumstances, a provider may prescribe a patient-specific compounded medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable law.

Ongoing Monitoring & Support

Weight management is an ongoing process. Follow-up appointments allow our healthcare team to monitor your progress, evaluate your response to treatment, review laboratory results when appropriate, discuss side effects or concerns, and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

What Are GLP-1 Medications?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are a class of prescription medications that affect pathways involved in appetite, digestion, and blood-sugar regulation. Some FDA-approved medications in this class—and medications that act on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors—are approved for chronic weight management in certain eligible patients.

These medications are not appropriate for everyone. Your healthcare provider will consider your medical history, current medications, treatment goals, potential contraindications, risks, and other clinical factors when determining whether prescription treatment may be appropriate for you.

A consultation or request for a particular medication does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued.

What About Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are active pharmaceutical ingredients used in certain FDA-approved prescription medications. Specific FDA-approved products have particular indications, dosages, labeling, and eligibility requirements.

OTR does not assume that one medication is appropriate for every patient. When prescription treatment is indicated, your provider will discuss available options and recommend a course of treatment based on your individual clinical needs.

When clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable law, a provider may determine that a patient-specific compounded medication is appropriate.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Compounded medications are not the same as FDA-approved brand-name or generic medications.

Personalized Weight-Management Plans

No two patients are exactly alike, and weight-management treatment shouldn't be either.

Your OTR treatment plan is developed around your individual health needs and may evolve as your progress, laboratory findings, health status, or treatment goals change.

Your plan may include:

Medical Evaluation

Treatment begins with an appropriate evaluation by a licensed healthcare professional.

Laboratory Testing & Monitoring

When clinically indicated, laboratory testing can provide information that helps your provider evaluate your health and monitor treatment.

Individualized Treatment Options

Recommendations are based on your clinical needs. Prescription medication may be considered when medically appropriate, but medication is not guaranteed or required for every patient.

Lifestyle Support

Nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and other sustainable health behaviors may be incorporated into your plan to support your overall weight-management goals.

Follow-Up Care

Regular follow-up gives you and your healthcare team an opportunity to assess progress, address concerns, and modify treatment when appropriate.

Why Choose OTR for Medical Weight Management?

✅ Individualized Care

We focus on the patient—not simply the number on the scale. Recommendations are based on your health history, clinical evaluation, goals, and response to treatment.

✅ Licensed Healthcare Professionals

Prescription treatment is provided only when determined to be medically appropriate following evaluation by a licensed healthcare professional.

✅ Ongoing Clinical Monitoring

Weight-management treatment can change over time. Ongoing monitoring helps your provider evaluate your response and determine whether adjustments are appropriate.

✅ A Long-Term Perspective

Our goal is to help patients develop a sustainable approach to weight management and overall health rather than promising a particular number on the scale or a specific rate of weight loss.

What Results Can I Expect?

Weight-management outcomes vary from person to person.

Results may be influenced by your starting health status, treatment selection, nutrition and activity habits, adherence to your treatment plan, medication tolerance, medical conditions, and many other individual factors.

Clinical trials of certain FDA-approved weight-management medications have reported substantial average weight reduction in appropriately selected participants. Clinical-trial results for a particular FDA-approved medication should not be interpreted as expected results for every patient, for compounded medications, or for OTR Health & Wellness's weight-management program.

No specific amount, percentage, or rate of weight loss can be guaranteed.

Your healthcare provider will work with you to establish individualized goals and evaluate your progress throughout treatment.

Is Medical Weight Management Right for Me?

The first step is an individualized evaluation.

Your healthcare provider can discuss your health history, previous weight-management efforts, goals, laboratory testing when appropriate, and the potential risks and benefits of available treatment options.

If prescription medication is appropriate, your provider will discuss the options that may be suitable for you. If medication is not appropriate, that does not necessarily mean there are no other steps you can take toward improving your metabolic health and weight-management strategy.

Important Information About Prescription & Compounded Medications

Prescription medication is available only when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional following an appropriate clinical evaluation.

Completing an intake form, requesting a particular medication, scheduling or paying for a consultation, or enrolling in a program does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed.

Compounded medications are not generic versions of FDA-approved medications and should not be interpreted as equivalent to an FDA-approved brand-name or generic drug.

When permitted by applicable law, a compounded medication may be prescribed when a licensed healthcare professional determines that it is clinically appropriate for an individual patient.

Some medications may also be prescribed for an indication, dosage, population, or use that differs from FDA-approved labeling. Your provider will discuss relevant risks, benefits, alternatives, and treatment considerations when appropriate.
