New Male TRT Injectable Patient Frequently Asked Questions
I have received my testosterone. The prescription says it is recommended to split dose and take twice a week. Is there an interval of days needed between shots?
A good interval to use is Sunday morning and Wednesday evening so any version of that 3 ½ day spread is perfect to use.
Is it normal for an area to stay sore for a few days after dosing?
It is not uncommon for areas to stay sore for a few days, but it does resolve itself. I’m going to resend the link for pain free injection technique just to make sure that your technique is appropriate. It is also important to make sure you are using the right needles. Just a reminder that the 21 gauge is used to withdraw the medication and the 25 gauge is used to inject the medication (which is the smaller needle, thus causing less discomfort). Alternate sites from leg to leg and glutes on either side as well. You could try taking some Tylenol or ibuprofen as well and use cold pack
Do I need to let you know that I am ready for a refill on my medication, or is it an automatic refill?
No, it is not automatic because the provider has to sign off on a paper form each time and submit it to the pharmacy. These are the DEA guidelines. Let us know when you are down to your last vial and it is halfway full. We will place the order at that time.
What do I do with my needles once I have used them? How do I dispose of them properly?
See article below for sharps disposal:
What does that mean….a 60-day notice to cancel?
We require a 60-day notice when you cancel your membership with OTR. This is because we have a hard cost on the medication, shipping, labs, Because you pay first and last month up front, then you will only have one bill cycle left and then no more monthly charges occur. Once you decide to cancel, you will no longer receive refills within the 60-days.
Is Testicular Atrophy supposed to happen when taking the testosterone replacement.
It tends to be more pronounced with some men than others honestly. When you’re taking testosterone from outside the body, your body’s natural production slows down, so there is some atrophy to the testicles because they don’t have to work as hard. Some guys don’t mind but some guys choose to use HCG as an additional supplement to help maintain their testicular volume.
I have been breaking out on my back and face since starting testosterone. Is there anything I can do to help this?
It’s not uncommon for some guys to have acne as a result of TRT. The first thing you can try is to pull back on your dose slightly. The next step is to attempt topical remedies like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids (adapalene, tretinoin), which can be used over-the-counter or prescribed by a dermatologist depending on the severity of your acne.
